Cincinnati, OH (Sports Network) - Cincinnati Reds starting pitcher Josh Fogg will miss a scheduled turn in the rotation Friday after suffering a split lip and a chipped tooth when he was hit in the mouth with a line drive during batting practice Tuesday.
Teammate Joey Votto hit a ball into the outfield that caught Fogg in the mouth, and the right-hander needed 30 stitches to repair the split upper lip.
Edinson Volquez will move up a day in the rotation to start Friday against Colorado, while Homer Bailey is slated to start Saturday. The Reds have not listed a starter for Sunday, and Fogg could be available to start the series finale against the Rockies.
Fogg is 2-2 with a 7.09 earned run average in 14 appearances -- seven starts -- this year, but has gone 1-0 with a 2.60 ERA in his past three starts.
