Report: Nets send PG Williams to Golden State

New York, NY (Sports Network) - Just a day after acquiring Keyon Dooling from the Orlando Magic in a sign-and-trade deal, the New Jersey Nets reportedly shipped point guard Marcus Williams to Golden State in exchange for a future first round draft pick.

The New York Post reported Tuesday that the Nets dealt Williams, 22, to Golden State for a protected first-round pick in 2011. The Connecticut product, selected 22nd overall by New Jersey in 2006, averaged 5.9 points and 2.6 assists in 16:06 per game for the Nets last season, his second in the league.

The acquisition of Dooling made the younger Williams expendable. He will join a Golden State club that is still reeling from the loss of its star point guard Baron Davis, who opted out of the last year of his contract and signed with the Los Angeles Clippers.
